One cable slipping off its drum groove is enough to jam a door mid-cycle or send a panel crashing at an angle. We fix the cable and check why it slipped in the first place.
Matching wear on both cables means both get inspected and typically replaced together.
Frayed cables often trace back to worn or damaged drum grooves, so we inspect the drums every time, not just the cable.
This repair sits close to stored spring energy, which is exactly why licensed handling matters here too.
We carry the common cable lengths and gauges for most residential door sizes.
Whatever brought you here, one of these service lines is the fix, and one call gets a technician moving.
We replace the snapped cable and its pair, then verify even tension across both sides.
Catching a fraying cable early avoids the sudden, uneven drop that comes with a full snap.
If the cable keeps slipping off the drum, we look for a bent drum or misaligned track causing the repeat issue.
We match new drums to the correct diameter for your door's cable length requirements.
A door hanging crooked usually means one cable or spring has failed while the other holds. We correct both the immediate hazard and the root cause.
Tell us if the door is hanging crooked or jammed, that detail helps us prioritize the call correctly.
Technicians carry standard cable gauges and lengths for most residential doors.
Diagnosis includes the drums, not just the visible cable, before any price is confirmed.
We verify the door hangs and travels evenly before calling the repair complete.
“Cable kept jumping the drum every few cycles. Turned out the drum itself was cracked, replaced and fixed.”
“Caught the fraying cable during a routine call before it actually snapped. Appreciated the heads-up.”
“Same-day fix on a Saturday, cable stock right there on the truck.”
This almost always means one lift cable or spring has failed while the other side is still holding weight.
Both cables typically get replaced together to avoid a near-term repeat call.
Yes, a door hanging on a single cable or spring can drop unexpectedly and should not be operated until repaired.
Repeated slipping points to a drum issue rather than just the cable itself, which we'll inspect.
Pricing depends on cable length, gauge, and whether the drums also need replacing, confirmed as a flat number before work starts.
Standard cable and drum stock means same-visit repair is the norm, not the exception.
